Contractors FAQs

I’m a contractor. What’s on my profile page?

Once you register as a contractor on fixxbook, you can describe your company and its strengths, promote your specialties, enter your contact information, upload your logo and enter basic business information (e.g. years in business, number of employees, etc.)

You will then specify what trades you perform (e.g. Plumbing, Electrical), how you perform them (e.g. self-performing vs. sub-contracted) and where you perform them (e.g. country, state, regional, national).

If you are currently using ServiceChannel for one or more of your clients, you have the option to make certain data showing your experience on ServiceChannel available. This is completely optional and you can hide or show this information at any time.

Can a contractor show their profile page to their clients who are not on fixxbook?

Yes, if you want to. fixxbook gives you the option of making your profile page public. You can give the specific web address of your fixxbook page to clients and prospects.

What type of contractors can benefit from fixxbook?

fixxbook is open to contractors of any trade, size, geography and specialization, whether you are a local plumber in Peoria or a large national specializing in nationwide HVAC. Clients have a wide range of contracting needs and fixxbook’s mission is to make every contractor easy to find fast.

Does fixxbook select contractors for facility clients?

Absolutely not. fixxbook is an independent search engine tool and does not select or recommend contractors – ever.

Do I have to be using ServiceChannel to use fixxbook?

No. fixxbook is open to everyone, including facility managers, national maintenance organizations and contractors of any trade, size, geography and specialization, whether they are users of ServiceChannel or not. You just have to register to use fixxbook.

I’m a contractor. Do clients have the ability to post reviews of my contracting work?

No, we understand that a high end luxury goods retailer and a low end quick service restaurant may look at the same contractor in very different ways, so a simple ‘Ebay(R) style’ review system doesn’t work here. fixxbook provides two tools to make the process of connecting contractors and clients more informed and effective:

First, contractors who have experience on ServiceChannel can decide whether or not to show objective data about their ServiceChannel experience (e.g. how long they have been on the system, the number of SC clients they currently work for, etc). This is completely optional.

Second, we do ask for clients to give us feedback on the accuracy of the trade and geography information provided by contractors, as this impacts the quality of our search results. While we encourage contractors to enthusiastically market themselves on their fixxbook page, we do not want inaccurate information on the site. For example, a contractor should not say on their fixxbook page that they are self-performing in a certain trade/geography if, in fact ,they manage that work through sub-contractors.

How much does fixxbook cost?

fixxbook is free. Free for contractors to join and free for facility clients to use.
